Thomas R. Boswell is an associate attorney at Maxey Kaminski and primarily practices bankruptcy law. Thomas understands that clients often consider bankruptcy as a last resort and he makes every effort to remove the stigma associated with bankruptcy to ensure clients are as comfortable as possible with the process. Bankruptcy is usually the culmination of months if not years of harassing and oppressive interactions with debt collectors, and Thomas takes personal satisfaction in providing a fresh start for his clients and a means to financial freedom.
Thomas was an associate on the SANTA CLARA LAW REVIEW, Vol. 57, and competed in moot court competitions while attending Santa Clara University School of Law. He was involved in the school’s Consumer Law Clinic, where he gave legal advice at the San Jose Superior Court’s self-help center on topics ranging from fair debt collection practices to bankruptcy counseling. Thomas’ knowledge and experience in consumer law overlaps and coincides with bankruptcy, allowing him to better identify and serve the needs of his clients.
Thomas represented both plaintiffs and defendants in various civil litigation matters prior to joining the firm. His litigation experience has helped inform his understanding of how creditors attach judgments and liens to property. Thomas is able to anticipate the collection efforts of creditors through his litigation experience and thereby counter those efforts.
